Location

Raffeen Creek enjoys a wonderful setting on the shores of Cork Harbour. The course is approximately 15 minutes drive south of Cork City, the Republic of Ireland's second largest city (Dublin being the largest).

Cork's international airport is also 15 minutes drive from the course and the passenger ferry terminal at Ringaskiddy, which takes regular traffic from the UK (Swansea) and France (Roscoff / Brittany) in summer months, is just one kilometre from the course. There are excellent hotels, guesthouses and restaurants close to the Club. Locating good quality accommodation is not difficult.

There are numerous other high quality golf courses within easy reach in the Cork area including Fota Island, Cork Golf Club, Douglas, Muskerry, Monkstown and the Old Head, Kinsale. Cork is also an excellent starting point for the wider South - West of Ireland, an area of exceptional natural beauty and spectacular golf courses (e.g. Killarney, Ballybunion, Waterville).

Clubhouse

Set in 78 acres of rolling greens and woodland and encompassing a natural lake and bird sanctuary, the Pfizer Sports Club caters for a wide range of sports. Membership of the club is open to existing, retired and former Pfizer Ireland employees and their families, with associated membership available to members of the local community.

There is a long and proud history to the Pfizer Ireland Sports Club, which has been in existence since the early 1970's. In April 2001, the clubhouse was completely renovated. It is now an absolutely first-rate facility with a full bar where you can come and unwind at your leisure.

The jewel in the Club's crown is the golf course at Raffeen Creek, Ringaskiddy. There's also a pitch and putt course and two magnificent full-size soccer pitches. Inside the club building is a hall which hosts a badminton club, a very active indoor-bowls club, and a once-a-week 45 Drive which is supported by many local residents. Road running and winter cared games also number among the many activities enjoyed here by members.

Dress Code

As you probably know, the Golfing Union of Ireland has a dress code which is well established and is now mandatory in the majority of golf clubs. The General Committee has considered this issue and decided that with effect from 1st October, 1996 the following items of dress will be unacceptable on the course at all times:

  • denim jeans and jackets
  • singlets: sleeveless or collarless shirts
  • untailored shorts, beach/multicoloured shorts
  • sweaters without shirts
  • garments without shirts
  • track or leisure suits
  • trainer shoes or runners
  • trouser legs tucked into socks
  • shirts outside of trousers
  • baseball caps worn back to front

We appreciate that the majority of members already meet this standard and we look forward to the co-operation of all members in this matter.
